Yes, applications compiled with -pg are broken on i386 platforms. See 
the threads "gcc profiling broken" from 24th October, and "gcc 4.2 
profiling breaks argv" from 3rd August.  A PR should probably be 
submitted for it, especially since it's going to start affecting a lot 
of people.
