I don't have a spare disk handy for that - i use the machine for backups, 
so it's used at night mostly.

John - seriously, you're not hearing me.  I don't know squat about what to 
look for here.  I need instructions at the level of "print out variable X 
at line Y in file Z and reboot with configuration W in loader.conf. 
Really.  I'm not trying to be unhelpful or dumbass or anything; it's just 
that any freebsd-fu I might have is right at the far end of the call stack 
to this.
