Looking at my dds drive under 2.1.6, I see this when it probes at boot:

(ahc0:4:0): "WANGTEK 6130-HS 4G16" type 1 removable SCSI 2
st0(ahc0:4:0): Sequential-Access density code 0x13, drive empty

(the drive wasn't empty, btw...)
now, if I do an "mt status", I see the following:

Present Mode: Density = X3B5/88-185A Blocksize variable
---------available modes---------
Mode 0: Density = 0x00 Blocksize variable
Mode 1: Density = 0x00 Blocksize variable
Mode 2: Density = 0x00 Blocksize variable
Mode 3: Density = 0x00 Blocksize variable

how do I use the different density codes, if at all, that are alluded to by
"density code 0x13" ?

also, is anyone working on making "mt status" return something like
what you get on SunOS4:

/dev/nrst0: no tape loaded or drive offline

and

Exabyte EXB-8200 8mm tape drive:
   sense key(0x6)= unit attention residual= 0 retries= 0
   file no= 0 block no= 0

- I'm sure you can see the difference in usefulness.

Darren
