Fortune and games and even the latest Perl > and some other things might be good candidates for that select list. The current installer already includes something "like" this. The various "collections" like "src", "games", "manpages", "info docs" and the other stuff that shows up in the custom installation menu are one way of selecting what to install and what to leave out. There's definitely a lot of value in making this selection a lot more fine-grained, but then we are very close to the old "everything should be a package, including the base system" bikeshed. I am not sure I want to go back there :)
