I'd say use vinum in 3.2, but not 3.1.. I had some problems with it in 3.1 Anyway, my backup server is a 90GB vinum stripe. Box uptime is around 70-75 days now, with over 6 terabytes of read/write activity on the 90GB vinum volume.
