System is an IBM Thinkpad T41 laptop.  

When booting with ACPI enabled using GENERIC or custom kernel, the system will freeze just after enabling the acpi_acad0 device if either a 3Com Megahertz 3CCFEM556B (ep0) or Xircom CreditCard 10/100 (xe0) PC-Card NIC is inserted at cold boot into either Cardbus slot.  With ACPI disabled, the system will boot to a login prompt, but will freeze shortly after.  There is no panic and no core dump, just a lockup.

Without either card inserted, the system will boot fine.  The system will also boot fine with an Atheros 5212 Cardbus (ath0) wireless NIC inserted at cold boot.  

If either the 3Com or Xirom cards are inserted after the boot process is complete, the kernel will output the warning "interrupt storm detected on "irq11:"; throttling interrupt source", but otherwise appears to work.

Note that the same system occasionally used to panic (about once every 2-3 months) when running FreeBSD 7.2, often after a similar interrupt storm warning.  However, the freeze on boot with PC-Card NIC installed is new to 8.0.
