When I got into Xfree86 the resolution was fine and I continued to setup = my Card by selecting from the list the Intel ??? Generic since I noticed that my videocard wasn't in the list, I then went to = setup my screen and selected one of the 1024 x 768 screens (the one matching my screen) I then went to select a resolution of 1024 = x 768, when my X server tried to restart it went into the resolution of 320 x 400, I then tried to use the resolution of 800 x 600 = and still it went back into 320 x 400. Do you perhaps know what I'm doing wrong? This is my first time trying to install FreeBSD, I have managed to = install quite a few distrobutions of Linux onto my machine, i.e Linux Mandrake, Corel (yuck) and my GUI / X would run fine. I know that = its me not understanding this whole Xfree86 setup, so could you please tell me where Im going wrong? Thanks, Yours Faithfully Chris Grant (admin@nemasis.org) ------=_NextPart_000_000F_01C05885.4D93CB40 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2614.3500" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>To whoever can help</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I have version 4.0-Stable of FreeBSD = and apon=20 installing it onto my 500 Celeron (Compaq Presario) I encountered a=20 problem</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>when configuring X through Xfree86 (I = think its=20 called) My Display card is the following: Intel 810 Chipset Graphics = Driver=20 (DC100)</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>or that is at least what Winblows is = telling me at=20 the moment and it seems to be runing fine through winblows.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>When I got into Xfree86 the resolution = was fine and=20 I continued to setup my Card by selecting from the list the Intel ???=20 Generic</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>since I noticed that my videocard = wasn't in the=20 list, I then went to setup my screen and selected one of the 1024 x 768=20 screens</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>(the one matching my screen) I then = went to select=20 a resolution of 1024 x 768, when my X server tried to restart it went = into=20 the</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>resolution of 320 x 400, I then tried = to use the=20 resolution of 800 x 600 and still it went back into 320 x 400.
