I think that's the CD drive which reports as 80-pin.  The SATA drive
doesn't appear at all with the new code.  This is the only line which I
think applies to it:

ata3: identify ch->devices=3D00000001

Additionally, I have since tried a serial console in a hope to get an
actual trace of what the kernel is doing, but it doesn't work.  I am
unable to get any more of a clue as to where the hang is occurring.
