You could try a little (bash) script:

#!/usr/local/bin/bash

dirname=$1
size=${2:-500}
header=${3:+"SIZE\tFILENAME\n"}

echo -e -n $header
find ${dirname:=$HOME} -size +${size} -depth -ls | sort -nr | less

It will give you an idea where the space is going by finding
files over 500K or by $2, whichever you like.
