I'm trying to enable IDE write caching by setting hw.ata.wc to 1 at boot
time. The FreeBSD Handbook states that this should be done at boot time. So
I've added 'hw.ata.wc="1"' to boot /boot/defaults/loader.conf and
/boot/loader.conf, but it seems as if it is not working. I also am trying to
enable directory caching via the vfs.vmiodirenable variable and getting the
same results (not being enabled).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Kory
