Yes, sysadmins are looking to save time, but some are
more paranoid than others about pre-packaged binaries.
I know I am. I haven't seen a binary software distribution
mechanism yet that I trust.

Of course, compiling from source doesn't guarantee anything
either, as evidenced by Ken Thompson's paper "Reflections
on Trusting Trust", but I get warmer fuzzies from compiling
source.
