Dave,
FYI--a while back i was seeing the same symptoms, random characters being
"wrong", and when I asked this list about it they called it "bit-swapping" and
suspected bad memory. Seeing as how I had recently installed some more RAM I
tried taking it back out and voila!!!, I could build again!
