I know that a hard linked file will show the same disk usage, so if for =
example:

$ du a
12345 a
$ ln a b
$ du a b
12345 a
12345 b
$

But in this case it's not the entire file being hardlinked, rather just =
some parts of the file being deduplicated so it's not exactly the same. =
Or is it? This is why I asked on the mailing list. :-)
