BTW yes, I have tried reinstalling from ports, packages, re-downloading 
the package, you name it.  I figure it must be a configuration error 
somehow.  Though my .fvwmrc is more or less out of the box.  Here is a 
bit of output from top to demonstrate the seriousness of the problem:
