I even try to do it several times. And found that some developers simple
refuse to update version numbers sometimes. I not want to be involved in
such type discussions with them anymore, especially forced by rule. It 
have nothing related to code functionality.

In FreeBSD ports system there is PORTREVISION varible exact for this
purpose, to add local updater to existent version number. I use it in all
such cases.
