The FAQ / HAL says (proc) is a prerequisite for mounting devices. The FAQ / HAL says (proc) is a requirement to access external sharing. Do not say that it is a requirement to reboot or shutdown the system (Gnome) by buttons as normal user. It also says nothing about not appear the user name and the GDM login screen. Also not say that the Restart and Shutdown buttons need the GDM (proc) to work. This information should also be in the FAQ.
