I've always found FreeBSD much easier and nicer than Linux, and I
would recommend the original poster give it a try. I've tried a few
distributions of Linux, and none of them seem as nice as FreeBSD. This
is probably because I started with FreeBSD with no other Unix knowledge;
the reason I don't like Linux is because I'm so used to FreeBSD I try
things the FreeBSD way rather than learning the Linux way properly. The
only Linux distribution I sort of like is Debian (though I can't help
wondering where the hell 2.2 is).
