Subject: no ``CONNECT'' received with zoom...

The latest in the saga of trying to use a generic (Zoom)
modem is that the ppp.log shows that I never get a
"CONNECT" echo back from the other modem.

I *do* dial out; I do connect; but evidently am missing
the handshake that would signal a CONNECT.

	Only when I

	# cu -l /dev/cuaa1

and then enter a series of AT commands am I able to
dial out with ATDT<number> and connect.

Anyone out there have a Zoom internal card that works
	agreeably??

	Ideas? feedback?

	TIA, guys,

	gary
