You want a load-balancing system like the Cisco LocalDirector, Alteon AceDirector, CoyotePoint Equalizer, etc. The CoyotePoint product is based on FreeBSD and they have a limited, = but free, version available for download. http://www.coyotepoint.com/ Charles -----Original Message----- From: Artem Koutchine [mailto:matrix@gerpa.ru] Sent: Wednesday, November 03, 1999 1:26 PM To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Subject: Trafic management in distributed mail system Hi! I am still wondering how to manage trafic and direct it to the least loaded server. Here is what i mean: There are 3 SMTP servers, which are very loaded. However they are all available to users under the same name smtp.domain.do, when a user connects, the system determines which host is least loaded and directs connection to that server. I know it is done, but i do not understand how it is done. The boxes are FreeBSD 3.1. Please, if you have some info on the subject or can direct me to the proper help source, share that with me and the rest freebsd community.
