>Description:
I have an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 board.
While everything is fine while playing the sound, recording sound from the line-in gives distorted sound (like in VoIP when some frames are dropping, only in this case no clean sound can be heard at all).

Attempted measures to resolve:

- changing HZ from 1000 to 100
- changing HZ from 100 to 4000
- disabling virtual channels
- changing dev.pcm.1.play.vchanrate/dev.pcm.1.play.vchanrate from 48000 to 41000 and back
- enabling dev.pcm.0.bitperfect

This didn't help, after some struggling I enabled the onboard hda card and got clean sound ot it's line-in.
>How-To-Repeat:
Try to record sound from snd_envy24(4) card.
>Fix:
Use snd_hda(4) for the purpose of sound recording.
