Right.  The standard way to deal with tmp space for VMWare is to
modify the "vmware" script to set TMPDIR to some place with lots
of fast space.

Couldn't this become a standard part of the VMWare port, with the
location being something that gets tweaked at install time, possibly
via a dialog?
