Unless you have subsequently edited src/release/Makefile or otherwise 
configured your environment, you're trying to build a 3.0 release on a 
2.2 box, which isn't supported.

It is extremely important to read the release Makefile *before* trying 
to do a release build, as you *will* fall over otherwise.
