Hi,

thanks for your hints. Unfortunately the thinkpad still does not suspend
even with a hibernation partition (I had some spare disk space left...).
But I found that the apm utility reports:

APM version: 1.2
APM Managment: Enabled
AC Line status: on-line
Battery status: high
Remaining battery life: 99%
Remaining battery time: unknown
Number of batteries: 1
Battery 0:
        Battery status: high
        Remaining battery life: 99%
        Remaining battery time: unknown
Resume timer: disabled
Resume on ring indicator: enabled
APM Capacities:
        global standby state
        resume timer from standby

i.e. No suspend capability!
Any ideas why this could be?

thanks,
Johannes.
