Subject: How to get KDE2 to work?

I cvsup against RELENG_4 on src and updated ports. I deleted all of
/usr/X11R6, /etc/X11 except the config, and /usr/local. I compiled and
installed src, XFree86-4, and kdebase2.

KDE does not work.

KDE gets stuck in various places, such as logging in, and kdeinit
processes consume all of the CPU. If I attach via GDB I see they are stuck
in a thread function and their stack is blown (no call back).

What do I have to do to get KDE2 to work again?
