Then it's either dust/dirt on the touchpad, or you've managed to find a
resonant frequency. When this started happening to me, I was so pissed
off that I added debugging output to the ps/2 driver - the touchpad is
definitely generating click events.
We don't, unfortunately, have any sort of control app for the Synaptics
pad. You might want to go look and see if the Linux folks do; it'd be a
relatively simple thing to port, and I think that one of the tunable
parameters is touch sensitivity.
