The "imon" in question is a program that uses a device of the same name, which exists on SGI systems, and now Linux. The correct way to implement this functionality in FreeBSD is definitely kqueue, like Kris said. Actually /dev/imon is really inferior to kqueue in a lot of ways. -- Terry
