I run several mailing lists from this freebsd system. I am running 2.1.7
with a 28.8 dedicated dialup connection. I know I should upgrade but this
thing won't quit running it's so solid. I am using SmartList for the mlm.

I'm having one problem though.
Quite frequently I get mail messages that end up staying in the
queue for several days. They typically show up as follows:

 mailq
                Mail Queue (1 request)
--Q-ID-- --Size-- -----Q-Time----- ------------Sender/Recipient------------
JAA21821* 3311 Fri Dec 4 09:47 amailinglist@tltodd.com
      8BITMIME (someuser@sprintmail.com... reply: read error from crow.a)
                                   someuser@sprintmail.com

Every 20 to 50 seconds a 1527 byte packet is being sent out to try and mail
this type of mail out. Here's what pppstats looks like:

     0 0 0 0 0 | 1527 1 0 1 0

If I look at a tcpdump I see the mail message trying to be delivered
over and over again. If I get several of these in queue it uses up all
my bandwidth and network traffic slowly grinds to a snails pace.

It happens quite often with certain destinations my system is trying
to send mail to, ie. msn.com and earthlink.net. Right now I have
all subscribers with msn.com or earthlink.net adresses commented
out of my dist files.

Anyone have any ideas on what's happening? Any ideas on how to fix it
or how to debug further?

Thanks,
Terry Todd
