Damn, and just as I was finishing up i386, alpha, and sparc assembler versions of these utilities to _really_ get the size down. I might finish anyway just so I can benchmark the old sleep binary with the new, more efficient sleep binary. Oh, and I found writing directly to /dev/kmem resulted in another 10% reduction in overhead for echo versus using write(2), but a small downside is that echo would have to be installed set-user-ID.
