I am 75% sure this is covered in http://www.freebsd.org/ports/ under
Upgrade Kits. It's not entirely clear from reading that whether the "3.2
to 3-stable" kit will resolve the problem, but it's probably something
worth doing anyway.

Not sure how to solve your libc dependency problem.
