The PCI graphics adapter is in the (DEC) recommended first slot on the first PCI bus That is recommended irrelevant of OS. I have run FreeBSD 4.2R, 4.5R and 4.5 -stable successfully on this machine. Buildworld of CVS -current from 4.5-stable worked fine I had problems with the installworld on CVS -current A couple of days later 5.0DP1 came out so I thought I'd give it ago. I don't have a nullmodem lead (or serial if that's whats needed, I haven't checked whether the serial console is through the standard serial port or it uses a seperate serial console output) handy so If I set it to console I have no way of monitoring it. (long time since I connected anything without either USB or ethernet) I certainly don't have any dumb terminals lying around. :) I will pick up a nullmodem lead as soon as possible and give serial console a go.
