Before hanging your machine does it manage to output the string:

	Keyboard reset did not work, attempting CPU shutdown

What happens if you change this:
	outb(IO_KBD + 4, 0xFE);

to this:
	outb(IO_KBD + 4, 0xFC);

in file sys/i386/isa/vm_machdep.c in routine cpu_reset?
