Looks like there is something wrong with 3.2-STABLE kernel, cos my previous 3.1-STABLE kernel works with 3.2 binaries and Qmail just fine if do not consider the poor output from "ps -l" command. When I recompiled my 3.1 kernel to 3.2 the problem arised. I have two more 3.2-STABLE hosts which are ok with Qmail, but their hardware is different, they're IDE based and the problematic one also uses SCSI (NCR). Problem Description: -------------------- Problems differ from kernel configuration, looks like they appear when kernel is of some "size". I mean when you add more/less features to your kernel the problem appeares and even can change. Once I have excluded INCLUDE_CONFIG_FILE option and problem disappeared but uncommented other and it appeared again. Also, I'm not sure only Qmail is vulnerable. I have noticed few cases of this problem which change from kernel to kernel: 1) Qmail sets wrong envelope sender address to <ds0>, or <lo0> for all users. %%%% mail letter 1 %%%% Return-Path: <ds0> %%%% mail letter 2 %%%% Return-Path: <lo0> 2) Qmail does wrong lookups on hosts it should send mail to though they're ok. %%%% mail letter 3 %%%% Sorry, I couldn't find any host named ????????????????lo0??. (#5.1.2) %%%% mail letter 4 %%%% Sorry, I couldn't find any host named ????????????????iv.ua. What's the problem? Is this because of my attachments? So this time I don't send attachments, but will for request (my 3.1 and 3.2 dmesgs and kernel configs). The strange thing about 3.2 kernel configuration is that if I uncomment for example "sl" or "plip" device then I get into serious troubles - qmail envelope "<ds0>" problem. If I use 3.2 kernel as it is shown it just does not find hosts it should deliver mail to, but only for e-mails which bounce as far as I remember. I've been debugging this problem for a long time but I can not go that deep to find a source of it. I'm ready to take some tests and waiting for your advices/questions. == Yaroslav Terletsky --0-115667752-936644078=:39456-- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
