the man to talk to is matthew n. dodd <mdodd@FreeBSD.org>.

he's been working with nvidia on getting the linux drivers ported
to freebsd, and for a while it went really well.  now i think they've
taken it "in house" though, so matthew can't do much to speed it up...

he still keeps drivers around at his ftp site, which is at
ftp://ftp.jurai.net/users/winter/nvidia, however they lack 3d support.

in the beginning when nvidia said that the drivers would be ready
"soon" i actually believed them, now i've kinda lost hope though...

it'll probably be a while before we see 3d accelerated nvidia drivers
for freebsd.

ati has working dri support right now, and a few days ago i read about
promised support for the newer chipsets too, sponsored by the weather
channel, so ati might be your best bet even if you've had problems
with them in the past...
