Hmmm... after some more carefull looking at how /etc/make.conf is
used I realize that what I was a little bit too optimistic regarding
that.

I was hoping that it would be able to be done via such a construction:
.if defined(PORTNAME) && ${PORTNAME} == "squid"
CONFIGURE_ARGS  +=      --enable-icmp
CONFIGURE_ARGS  +=      --enable-useragent-log
.endif

but the brute assign-method used in the Makefile of squid24 breaks this.

I'm sorry but it can't be solved this way.
