My Xsetup_0 looks like this:

#!/bin/sh
# $XConsortium: Xsetup_0,v 1.3 93/09/28 14:30:31 gildea Exp $
xconsole -geometry 480x130-0-0 -daemon -notify -verbose -fn fixed -exitOnFail
xhost +localhost
xscreensaver -timeout 3 -cycle 3 &

However, using 'xhost +localhost' can be a security risk as it makes
the X session open to any connections from the localhost (on my home
machine where this is, it's no big deal). Somebody who understands X
far better than I probably has a better solution that isn't so
insecure.
