Try many older PCI motherboards with PCI SCSI controllers (a very 
common scenario).

The real concern is actually bugs in the bootable CDROM support; there 
are plenty of BIOS revisions out there that don't do it properly with 
1.44MB images.  The situation with 2.88MB ones is likely to be worse.
