Well, some time ago I filed PR docs/27209 (initiated by one of
the ever upcoming threads about this very topic in the mailing
lists).  But it was rejected for being "just gratuitous".  I did
not want to do a long and fruitless fight about it (after all I
have the correction in my local tree :) and don't force those who
do not want it to use it.  But those interested are free to apply
the patch from the PR to their local sources.  It should even
apply cleanly, I cannot remember any commits to ascii.7 since
then.
