Ah, that'll be me.

I've just dug in to the FAQ to see where they are.

Hmm.

All but the first set can be removed, they serve absolutely no purpose.
The first set are more tricky.

These are supposed to format information about books. Sadly, it
includes all the bibliographic information about the book inline, as it
where.

DocBook doesn't support this. It expects you to either have a fully
fledged bibliography, which you refer to, or it expects you to use an
the <citetitle> element. For an example of the former, go to

    http://www.docbook.org/tdg/html/bibliography.html

and of the latter go to

    http://www.docbook.org/tdg/html/citetitle.html

On the whole, I'd prefer it if the markup was the same across
translations. Should anyone want to jump up and fix the markup in the
English FAQ to use <bibliography> then please do so, otherwise I'll get
to it in my copious free time.
