At the command prompt:

  route add default 1.2.3.8

or add in your /etc/rc.conf file:

  static_routes = "default"
  route_default = "1.2.3.8"

so the default route will be set up at boot time. (Assuming this is the 
same under 4.1 as it is under 3.5-stable)
