Just as a point of information --I'm not starting any Holy Wars or Trolls, here -- but is there any functional reason to use a native FBSD OpenOffice1.0? I've been using the linux binary of 1.0 on FBSD 4.6RC for a week or ten days, and it seems to work fine. (note the above word "functional," I don't need any convincing that our stuff is better than Linux' stuff, generally.)
