Either FreeBSD 4.10 or FreeBSD 5.3 of the i386 architecture/platform 
should work well.  Much has changed between the 4* and 5* series; so 
unless you have specific reasons to use 4.10 (the "legacy" version), 
you should probably learn 5.3.
