I bought the HP TR-4 about four months ago.  The media is expensive, but
it lasts.  I see about 300 KB/s using tar with compression.  I don't
know if I would see better performance with dump but I suspect as much;
I use it to backup about 200 MB of selected trees nightly.  As far as
FreeBSD is concerned it's just another SCSI tape device.  TR-4 is a nice
setup for home office use.  It beats the lesser QICs by a great deal,
but it still does not belong in a production environment.
