Here's a short list (compiled with the TV on, so possibly not accurate):

  audio/discid affects gnome
  graphics/aalib affects gnome, kde
  graphics/linux-cairo affects acroread9, others
  graphics/sane-backends affects kde
  lang/ezm3 affects cvsup
  lang/expect affects various ports
misc/getopt affects gnome, eclipse, many others
  misc/localedata affects nvidia-driver and others
  net/cvsup
  print/freetype affects docproj and others
  print/gutenprint affects gnome-fifth-toe
  security/openssh-portable
  textproc/xerces-c2 affects 15 ports
  x11-toolkits/gtkglarea affects ~20 ports

I'm sure there are many more that have useful dependencies.
