Interesting. I found that I do indeed have ld-elf.so.1, located in 
/usr/libexec/. I then found I have no /libexec directory, so I created 
it, copied the ld-elf.so.1 file into it, and now openoffice runs. Only 
problem now is my own stupid mistake, the package I downloaded and 
installed is in some very foreign language, like russian or something 
similar. Dogone it, gotta go out and download the correct one now.
(Guess I'll pay a little more attention to the download screen).
