Uh..  actually, the submitter sent the script to -hackers just
after submitting the PR, and then accepted the general idea that
this script was not perfect: e.g. it does not handle YP/NIS at all.

In a follow-up on -hackers (<20010509173744.F645@ringworld.oblivion.bg>),
I suggested a patch to id(1) that would work properly, using getpwent()
instead of relying on the /etc/passwd file.
