This is more of a report than anything: my fujitsu laptop has O2micro 6933 cardbus bridges on it. They appear to work as advertised, and I'd be willing to make logins available to someone who wants to tinker. An observed quirk (not entirely confirmed) ... I've burned a few Linksys wireless cards. So has another laptop with a different chipset. The SMC that I'm using now appears to be more robust.
