Here's the info you requested:

[global]
     workgroup = HOME
     encrypt passwords = Yes
[homes]
     read only = No
     browseable = No
[public]
     path=/tmp
     guest ok = Yes

The command I uses is:

ash-2.05# smbclient //(hostname)/public
