Subject: MX record for all hosts in a domain

My read of RFC-1033 says:

FOO.COM.	MX	10	RELAY.CS.NET.
*.FOO.COM.	MX	20	RELAY.CS.NET.

should send mail for user@foo.com _AND_ user@host.foo.com to relay.cs.net?

But 'dig mx host.foo.com' does _not_ show the MX record ('dig mx foo.com' does).
(and mail is trying to go directly to host.foo.com, but is being blocked by the firewall).

What am I missing?

Max
