(I suppose this isn't the right ML, but I hope it'll do.)

I've been using -c, which I read could (should?) be used, but I think
I'd rather use -u and I think I've seen a PR which used that.  Are those
widely accepted?  Is either one better apart from esthetics?  Are any
other kinds just as good and acceptable?
