Does anyone have any experience with the new Travan-5-based tape drives and FreeBSD? I'm looking for a 5-10GB tape drive, and I'm currently thinking about getting either an Exabyte 8700LT or one of the new Travan-5 drives (e.g., Seagate Hornet NS20). The drive prices are comparable, but the Travan-5 drives hold twice as much, uncompressed (5GB for the Exabyte vs 10GB for the Travan-5). I'm aware that the Travan-5 media costs something like eight times as much as 8mm, but I'm willing to live with that (also, I'm staying away from used/refurbished drives). Thanks. -- Darryl Okahata darrylo@sr.hp.com DISCLAIMER: this message is the author's personal opinion and does not constitute the support, opinion, or policy of Hewlett-Packard, or of the little green men that have been following him all day.
